119: Are You Hiding Your Light?

There is a shift taking place in the world. People who long for truth, peace, justice, and morality are speaking up.

As Christians, we can no longer hide our faith from those we care about. We can no longer fear those who disagree with God’s truth. And we can no longer risk walking the wrong path.

Listen to this week’s episode and be inspired to stand up and speak out against the sin and evil that threatens every aspect of our lives. It’s time to find the courage to walk away from the hatred and lies and live your faith.

Main Points From the Show

We are called to shine our light into the world so that others will learn to know Christ.

There are many paths to take and not all lead to God’s truth. Following the path to pleasure may lead us astray. Things that seem innocent enough can lead to living lives of sin.

When things were going well, it was easy to shine our light. People were generally drawn to the light because there was something different about people who knew Jesus. But it hasn’t been until recently when I’ve really dug deep into the Word that I’ve realized that not all light is truth and not all that seems good is Godly.

The bullies of this world have caused us to hold our tongue for fear of their wrath, but it’s time we speak out. That doesn’t mean that everyone has to host a podcast or start an ad campaign, but it does mean speaking up for truth in our everyday conversations. It means challenging people when they say something that is against the morals and beliefs we hold dear.

We need to remember that God will guide us and the Holy Spirit will give us the opportunity and the words to speak when it is time for us to speak up. When we do speak up we are challenged to do so in a kind and gentle manner.

Quotes from the Show

As Christians, we are reminded that we shouldn’t hide our light under a table, but rather hold it up for all to see.  It is time the silent majority find their voice and speak out.  Reading scripture will help us to share the truth of God not our own personal truth.

The joy and peace we seek comes when we believe in Him and trust Him with every aspect of our lives.

Regardless of how far we’ve fallen, no matter how many lies we’ve believed, indeed no matter how many sins we’ve committed, we can still return to Christ and receive His mercy.

Verses Referenced

Luke 8:16-17 “No one lights a lamp and then covers it with a bowl or hides it under a bed. A lamp is placed on a stand, where its light can be seen by all who enter the house. For all that is secret will eventually be brought into the open, and everything that is concealed will be brought to light and made known to all.”

Matthew 7:15 “Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep, but are really wolves that will tear you apart.”

Matthew 7:16-18 “You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit.  A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit.”

Galatians 5:19 “When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear, sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these.”
