163: Unvarnished Faith–Love with a Servant’s Heart

Episode 163 Banner

Our faith intersects with life experiences every day. This conversation with author Bill Yoh emphasizes how faith should be embraced and how it can serve as a guide to having great relationships. In it, Bill encourages us to pursue service and connection with those around us and to strive for unity rather than division.

Bill shares how his first book, Our Way, was inspired by his father, and his second book, the newly released Unvarnished Faith, was inspired by an unexpected journey of the heart. He shares tips for becoming more authentic, loving with a servant’s heart, and creating meaningful conversations.

Listen and be inspired to love more deeply and walk in the Lord’s presence here on earth.

Main Points From the Show

So much of society has evolved to focus on selfies, selfishness, and division. The algorithms feast on differences, and we’ve lost the concept of love your neighbor as yourself and forgotten that we are all created in God’s image.

We discussed that having meaningful conversations will get us closer to the roles we are intended to play.

Few of us are willing to authentically admit that we are wrong in a situation, which makes relationships more difficult.

The path of true meaning in life is through our relationship with others.

Quotes from the Show

Few people minister from the pulpit. Most minister through our day to day life. Bill Yoh

We can create a new future by using the “both/and” of using ancient scripture and a new way of relating.  Bill Yoh

Verses Referenced

I will walk with the Lord in the land of the living. Psalm 116:9 NLV

But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more. Luke 12:48b ESV

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,  looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2
